3 Months Old - and pics!

I can't believe my sweet little man is three months old TODAY! Where is the time going? Life with Jacob seems to get sweeter by the day. His personality shines through more and more each day and it makes being his mommy even that much better. I love him so much!

We had a terrible scare a little bit ago. We put him in his crib for the first night and he did fantastic! At about 4am, he started to wrestle around, so I went in and unswaddled him. I usually do this when he sleeps next to me and he goes back to sleep for about another hour or so. I went back asleep and then all of a sudden his Angel Care monitor went off. I've never ran so fast in my life. I swooped him up and he seemed to be ok. Very sleepy and out of it, but he did just wake up. Alex and I just held him and he seemed fine. We changed him and then he ate and is currently back asleep in his crib, while I sit here shaking and unable to sleep. haha. I tried, but my mind is racing and I feel like I'm going to be sick with worry, I decided to get up and enjoy some alone time with my computer and a cup of coffee. I'm so thankful for that monitor. All of the "what if's" keep playing through my mind...

We had to go to the doctor yesterday. He has some blood in his poop and we got a little worried. We were there for two hours and he was an ANGEL almost the entire time! He started to get a little fussy towards the end, but he was tired. Of course it was right when the doctor came in. Dr. Reese checked him out and he seems to be fine. His throat is still a little red and he might have an anal fissure. Poor little guy! I'm going to keep my eye on it and hopefully it gets better. I was thinking it was a dairy allergy, we shall see!

We had his three month photo shoot with Trish Burdett and the pictures came out amazing! He did so well! I was so proud of him. He was pretty pissy towards the end, but he was tired. When he's tired, he's not a happy camper!

Here's a few things you are up to sweet boy:

• You are still in size two diapers. We tried a size three on you the other day and it was rather hilarious looking. It was WAY too big. I think you will be in size two for a little bit.
• You weighed 13lbs and 10oz yesterday at your doctor's appointment. You were 13lbs 8oz on September 28th, so you didn't gain very much, but we're not worried.
• You are starting to put everything in your mouth. This just started in the last few days.
• You have started to hold your toys more. This started in the last week or so. Mommy was walking you one day and you had your toy in your hand! You picked it up and held it the entire time. Since then, you've been picking them up more and more each day.
• You also found one of the toys on your play mat. It has rings and you will hook it and hold it and shake it for awhile.
• You looked at Molly, our kitty, for the first time yesterday. We were hanging out with you on the couch and she jumped up and you just looked at her for a little bit.
  You are getting better in car rides. If it's around your bed time, you will just fall asleep. Timing is everything! The best time to leave is right after you wake up from a nap and have eaten.
• You are SUCH a happy baby!! You love to smile and talk. The only time you are ever in a bad mood is when you are really tired or really hungry. You get a little fussy if you get bored, but that usually doesn't last very long.
  You still love your bath time. Mommy is usually the one that gives you a bath, but daddy helps. He sits on the tub and talks to you while you splash around. He also gets you out and dries you off.
• You have become a very efficient breast feeder! You used to nurse about 5 hours total a day (about 10 times a day), but now you nurse about 2-3 hours total (about 6-7) times. I kinda miss the days it took you 30-45 minutes to eat because I really enjoyed the time to sit with you and relax. Now, you like to get in and get out and get back to business!
• You put yourself on a schedule. You get up, you get changed, you eat, play for about an hour and then you go down for a nap (you are up for about an hour and a half and then you get really tired). We do that cycle all day.
• You go down to sleep at about 9:30 every night. You wake up at about 3:30-4 to eat and you usually go back down for another 3-4 hours.
• You spit up a lot. We had to take you to the doctor for it because it was really bad for a little bit, but she thinks it was a virus because you had a red throat too. I think you have a little case of reflux, but it doesn't really bother you, so we didn't put you on medication for it.
• You seem to have gas a lot. You like to fart. As I type this, you are in your crib, farting. It makes me smile.
• You still don't take a paci. You look at us like we are crazy when we try to give you one.
• You LOVE to stand up with our help. Sometimes you won't bend your legs because all you want to do is stand.
• You do really well at tummy time and hold your head up like a champ!

Jacob - TWO months old (almost THREE!)

I can't believe my little baby is almost THREE months old already! Where is time going? It's slightly freaking me out. I don't like how fast it's all going. Tomorrow he will be 11 weeks. He gets more amazing as the days pass. I have NEVER loved anyone like this. He melts my heart.

He changes by the day and seems to get more interactive, which is amazing. I love watching him learn new things and explore the world around him. Each smile and coo makes me tear up. We have "mommy and me time" everyday a few times a day. It's where I put him on a blanket and we just look at each other and talk. He smiles up and me and just talks and talks! It's amazing. I catch myself tearing up every time. It amazes me that he's mine. ALL MINE! Well, and Alex's too...I guess I will share.

Here's a few things that's going on with my pumpkin:

• You are still in size two diapers. You wear Seventh Generation and they seem to work great for us. You haven't had an "accident" in awhile.
• You love your swing and nap in it during the day. I tried to put you in your crib for naps, but you would wake up after 30 minutes every time, without fail. It's like you had an internal alarm clock that told you to wake up. I put you back in your swing and your naps range anywhere from 45 minutes to an hour and a half.
• You still take a bottle every night from your daddy. I will pump in the morning and at 9:30 every night we give you a bottle. You love it.
• You LOVE bath time! We were giving you a bath in the kitchen, with your tub on the counter, but you like to splash so much, that we had to move your tub into the big tub.
• You are in love with your bouncy chair. You will sit in it and talk to the little frog (it's actually a gecko, but mommy didn't realize that until daddy pointed it out). You smile and coo for 20-30 minutes!
• You are so strong. You love to stand up and sometimes you won't bend your legs because you just want to stand.
• You love your daddy so much. When he gets home from work, no matter what you're doing, you will stop to say hello with a big smile.
• You are a great sleeper at night. You will sleep from 10pm-4am almost every night. You will go back down from 2-3 more hours.
• You sleep in your "yellow thing" next to mommy on the couch. We tried to put you in your room last Monday, but you woke up at 2am screaming. You were so upset. Mommy isn't ready for you to move into your room either. Eventually we will be though.
• You're not a big fan of your carseat. I think you hate being strapped down and confined.
• You are wearing all different sizes right now. You are getting too long for your 3-6 month footed pjs. We put you in your 6-9 month ones and you seem happier. I can't believe how long you are! You still fit in 0-3 month clothes though too, it just depends on the brand and what it is.
• You noticed your toes for the first time a couple days ago. I had you sitting on my check and you would wiggle your toes and you even tried to reach for them. You talked to them too. You also started to look at your hands more. You always have them in your mouth.
• You recently discovered that you have a tongue to stick out and will sometimes smile and stick your tongue out.

I say this every time, but we really do love you more each day. Even when we don't think it's possible to love you more, we do.

Pictures! Finally...

He's growing up too fast!!!!!!!!!!!! We went for his two month check up yesterday. He weighs 12 pounds and 9 ounces (60-70 percentile). He's 23 1/2 inches long (75 percentile) and his head is 15 1/2 inches (50th percentile). He got his shots yesterday, poor baby. He was a little fussy last night, but all in all, he doesn't seem too effected by them.

He is such a good boy!

Where is time going?

Wow. I can't believe Jacob is already 7 weeks old! Where the heck is the time going? It's insane. Days all run together. I keep telling myself I want to get on here and update, but I never have any down time! When he's sleeping, I'm usually running around the house like a mad woman trying to get everything taken care of (laundry, dishes, shower, etc.). I will sometimes nap with him, but most of the time I have too much on my mind!

He is getting so big and changing by the day. It's really amazing. Being a stay at home mommy is the most amazing job in the world. I keep thinking to myself that had I gone to work I would miss so much! All the smiles and new things he does. I would hate to hand him over everyday to someone else. It would kill me. I'm so blessed that I have the opportunity to stay home. I know there are many women out there that would kill to be able to stay home with their little ones.

I'm not sure how much he weighs now. Last time we checked about 2 weeks ago he was already 11lbs 6oz! I couldn't believe it. He's not very chunky though - just VERY long!

Here's a few things you are up to Jacob:

- You are in size two diapers. I think you would still be in size one though, but Seventh Generation seems to run a bit small. We compared the size two to a size one pamper and they were the same size.

- You are in 3 month clothes. You have a few jammies that are 0-3 month and they are now too short. This just happened in the last few days.

- You are starting to smile more and more each day. It makes mommy almost cry when you look at her and smile that big sweet smile of yours.

- You are trying to find your voice. You will coo here and there, but not all the time. I can tell you want to though. You make the facial movements, but nothing comes out yet.

- You love bath time! You kick your legs sometimes and make a big mess for mommy and daddy to clean up.

- You take a bottle with breast milk at night from daddy and love it. I think it's your time to bond with one another.

- You are starting to focus more on things and us.

- You still don't love going on car rides, but you seem to tolerate them a little better now.

- You have a clogged tear duct right now. We took you to the doctor to have it checked out and you were such a good boy!

- You have a little bit of acid reflux, but it doesn't seem to really bother you too much. Not enough to put you on medication.

- We swaddle you every night to sleep and it seems to be working. Daddy does it the best!

- Most of the time you will sleep 5-6 hours, get up for a diaper change and to eat really fast and then you go back to sleep for another 3 hours. Such a good boy! We will have the occasional bad day, but that's typically how it is.

- You love your swing and Rock and Play Sleeper. You are starting to notice the mobile on the top of your swing and will look at it for awhile and then get bored.

- You take a long time to wake up. You will sit there and grunt for awhile and fight your swaddle. Mommy will undo it for you and you will usually fall back asleep for a little bit.

We love you so much sweetheart. You make Mommy and Daddy so happy. We will sometimes just sit there and watch you sleep. You have no idea how much you are loved, and that love gets stronger with each passing day.

Loving the Ergo Baby Carrier! He fell asleep as soon as I put him in there. Literally like a minute.

Being a mommy is amazing. It's better than I could have imagined and more tiring than I could have ever expected. I sometimes wonder how I got so lucky? How is it possible that we made this perfect little baby? I feel incredibly blessed. I think about my friends that are unable to have children or my friends that have lost their babies and wonder why I am so lucky? I thank GOD every single second for blessing us with this little miracle. He's truly a blessing. Amazing in every single way.

He turned three weeks old yesterday. And yesterday was a bit of a rough one. He is going through a growth spurt, so all he wanted to do was eat, and eat, and eat. He was attached to me for pretty much the entire day. He nursed for a total of six and a half hours. No joke. He's usually at around five hours, but yesterday was special. He's a growing boy and needed his food! He usually naps anywhere from 2-3 hours two times a day. Yesterday his longest nap was an hour and a half which was just enough time for me to pick up and take a shower. I felt so bad for him because he just seemed so hungry and couldn't get comfortable. So, I held him and nursed him ALL DAY. I ate dinner while he nursed.

Our night went okay since he was up most of the day I prayed that he slept well and he did. We had a nice long stretch from 11-3 which was so nice. Granted, it was on me and we slept on the couch, but it worked. After 3 though he was pretty much up every hour and a half and has been that way all day today. He kept fighting sleep! My amazing hubby suggested we try swaddling again. He has hated it since day one because he likes his arms to be free, but guess what? It's working. He's been asleep for about an hour - IN HIS CRIB. He naps pretty well in his crib which is amazing. He hates his bassinet. We haven't been able to get him to sleep in it since we brought him home. We have been sleeping in his recliner in the nursery. I know it's not the best, but it works, so we do it.

We moved him into size one diapers a few days ago. The newborn ones still fit for the most part, but he was having lots of accidents, so we figures we would move him up to a bigger size and they seem to be doing the trick. They are pretty big on him, but I roll down the top so they don't mess with his cord (which has yet to fall off) and they seem to be doing the trick. Thank goodness! He was wetting through a few diapers a day which meant we were changing clothes a ton! I never realized how much laundry comes with a baby! Good thing I like doing laundry.

I tried pumping for the first time two days ago and it went great. I was able to pump a few bottles and had planned on having Alex giving him his night time feeding, but he's going through a growth spurt right now and they don't recommend supplementing during a growth spurt. We did give him just a little bit on Thursday night to see if he would take the bottle and we had no problems there! He likes to eat! We got the Tommee Tippee bottles and they are fantastic! We ended up going back and getting the ones for sensitive tummies which should help reduce the amount of air he takes in since we aren't giving him a whole lot with the bottle.

We went for his two week check up this past Monday and our little boy had GROWN! He was 8lbs 1oz and 20in when he was born. He went down to 7lbs 12oz in the hospital and on the Tuesday after he was born at his weight check he was 7lbs 14oz and 20 1/4in. Well, at his two week check up he was 9lbs 6oz and 21 1/2in! Oh ya, he put on a little weight and grew like a weed! Looks like my milk is doing it's job! haha.

A little about what Jacob is up to:

• You love to eat. When you aren't going through a growth spurt, you eat every 2-3 hours during the day and about every 3 hours at night.
• You get so mad when you don't get food when you want it. You want to eat the minute you decide you are hungry and will scream until you get what you want.
• I can't change your diaper right when you wake from a nap because you are too hungry. I have to wait until we nurse on one side and in the middle of your feeding, before I switch you to the second breast is when we get our shot.
• You usually don't mind getting your diaper changed - you just hate when it's time to close the diaper.
• You love warm wipes.
• You love your little giraffe that we put on the changing table. He plays "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" and he seems to calm you a little. You've actually started to notice him more in the last few days.
• You like the bottle and we can't wait to give it to you more. Daddy really enjoyed feeding you for the first time, even if it was only a little tiny bit.
• You don't like the paci. You will take it every once in awhile, but you would much rather have mommy.
• You love to look at the artwork in the house. When Grandma was here, she would take you around the house and you just love checking it all out. You have one favorite that you can't stop looking at.
• You are in size one diapers, but newborn still fit you. Size one seem to help with the accidents.
• You LOVE to pee and poop when you get your diaper changed. Sometimes I think you plan it that way.
• You fart. A lot.
• You don't like sleeping in your bassinet at all, but will sleep pretty well in your crib which is amazing.
• We had two outings with Grandma this past week and you did an amazing job! We were even able to go out to lunch and you slept the entire time.
• Your belly button is still attached but we think it might fall off very soon. We hope so because we really want to give you your first "real" bath! We think you will really like it.

We love you so much Jacob. We can't wait to watch you grow. It seems that each day brings new and exciting changes as you grow. You're very loved.

He's Here!

This is so late! Little man is here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We went in to get induced on Friday, July 9th. We arrived at the hospital at 7:30 in the morning and started to get things going. Everything seemed to have happened so fast! As soon as I got there they started the iv and shortly after that they came in and put some kind of gel on my cervix to soften things up. I was already 3cm and 75% effaced, so things were already looking really good.


The doctor came in about 10 minutes after the gel was inserted and decided to break my water. At this point I had only been there for an hour! He broke my water and they clocked me in as being in labor as of 8:34 that morning. Wow.


It took awhile for the contractions to kick in. They were somewhat uncomfortable for a little bit. They started the pitocin, but soon realized they didn't need much of it because my body was so ready! I was progressing pretty fast. By 11:45 the contractions were getting unbearable and I was between 5-6cm. I ordered the epidural at this point and was pretty proud that I lasted as long as I did because I seriously thought I was about to die. The nurse made me feel good because she said I must have a high tolerance for pain as most people don't last that long (people that are planning an epidural anyways). I was so proud! haha.

The epi didn't hurt at all, it was more uncomfortable than anything. I was worried about nothing of course. It hit my right side more than my left which was so weird. I could move and mostly feel my left leg, but my right was DEAD. It was so odd. I was thankful for the epidural because shortly after I did the contractions started getting closer together and much more intense. Thank you drugs! I could slightly feel the contractions in my left side, but it wasn't bad. It actually helped when it came time to push because I could tell when a contraction was coming on.

At about 3:30 it was time to push. I was slightly in shock at how fast things were going. He was ready to come! We started pushing off and on while the nurse prepared things. She waited awhile to get the doctor. I was a little shocked at this point at how fast things were going. I really couldn't believe it was time to push! It was so weird because it didn't feel like I was doing anything when I pushed, but the nurse reassured me that I was doing everything just fine and was actually an excellent pusher. She finally went and got the doctor and I knew he was coming soon. We pushed a few times and I finally decided I was done! I wanted him out! Pushing is VERY hard and took so much out of me. I told them "I'm on a mission." I knew I was going to get him out with the very next push and sure enough, I DID! It was cute because as I was pushing before the doctor got there, the nurse showed Alex his head and he instantly got tears in his eyes. He was so excited to see his son coming.

I can't begin to explain the feeling I had when I first heard his cry. It's unbelievable. We both cried. It all happened so fast. They took him to get cleaned off as they stitched me up and got me cleaned off. All I could do was stare at my sweet son who seemed so far away. I just wanted to hold him and kiss him! Daddy was so proud. I've never seen my husband so happy and excited in all the years we have been together.

We stayed in the hospital for two days and came home on Sunday, July 11th which was our one year wedding anniversary and my dad's birthday. It was such a fantastic day!

39 Weeks!

How far along? 39 weeks 5 Days! I can't believe I'm just a few days away from my due date!!
Total weight gain/loss: 42 pounds. It's right around there. I haven't been gaining anymore, so that's a good thing.
Maternity clothes? Of course.
Sleep: Still pretty much the same. Not too bad.
Best moment this week: Being off work and at my last appointment I was told that I'm progressing! 2cm and more thinning and he is in the birth canal! Yay for progress!
Food cravings: Fresh fruit.
Gender: BOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Belly Button in or out? It's still in and I don't think it's going to pop either.
What I miss: Just miss having a back that doesn't hurt. He still favors my right side and it's pretty painful. Nothing seems to help either. Not much longer.

At my appointment last Thursday I was 2cm and thinning more. We set up an induction date for THIS FRIDAY! AHHHH! I have talked badly about inducing, but I don't feel too bad. I will be one day overdue if he hangs out until Friday. It's time!

The nursery is officially done! My MIL made the curtains which were kinda a pain in the ass. I felt bad for her!

I'm huge and he's LOW! I feel like he's going to fall out!

38 Weeks and Maternity Photo Shoot

How far along? 38 weeks 4 Days - holy wow. I can't believe I'm almost 39 weeks pregnant.
Total weight gain/loss: 42 pounds. It's right around there. I haven't been gaining anymore, so that's a good thing.
Maternity clothes? Of course.
Sleep: Still pretty much the same. Not too bad.
Best moment this week: The whole week off of work has been really nice. I'm enjoying my time. It's pure heaven!
Food cravings: Fresh fruit.
Gender: BOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Belly Button in or out? It's still in and I don't think it's going to pop either.
What I miss: Hmm. This is tough. I'm really uncomfortable. Everything seems to hurt by the end of the day. It seems like he's in my left ribs in my back. My lower back hurts too most of the time. I've been taking lots and lots of baths to try and help with the pain which sometimes works. HOWEVER, I'm reallllly trying hard to enjoy these last few DAYS. He's going to be here before we know it and I'm going to miss feeling his elbow (or is that his heel?) push up against my stomach. It's amazing. I can tell he's such a big boy now. I'm in love.

On Friday, I had my maternity photo shoot. I wasn't going to do it and kept going back and forth about it, but I decided to go ahead and suck it up. I wanted to remember this special time and him in my belly - so I did it! Trish Burdett was my photographer. She was amazing and really made me feel beautiful. I was kinda nervous beforehand, but she made me feel comfortable. She came to my house at 8am and we headed out to North A Street to a little neighborhood called The Woodlands. It was beautiful! There is a little lake and tons of trees. I loved the look and feel of it. The pictures turned out amazingly! I feel like I look HUGE, but I guess that's normal for being 38 weeks pregnant! His mom has been here for a week and it's been nice to have the company. We've been looking at fabric for the curtains for the nursery and plan on getting it today. I can't wait to have it all done. I wish my mom was here too. She will be here soon though! She gets here on the 15th of July and will be here for about a week. At the rate we are going, she will be here for the birth! haha. I kinda have a sinking suspicion that we will be having this little one a few days late. I don't mind so much, he can stay in as long as he needs. Well, he will be getting an eviction notice a week after our due date! haha. Sorry little man...mommy wants to meet you!
